Decorative motif learning in fashion education requires not only the ability to produce visual forms but also the ability to discover, interpret, and develop design ideas. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Ethno-Discovery Project (EDP) integrated with ethno-design literacy in decorative motif learning. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed. Data were obtained from needs-analysis interviews, learning documents, observations of student activities, and design project artifacts. The data were analyzed through data reduction, thematic categorization, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed three main learning processes: idea discovery and development, idea sharing, and visualization of ideas. Cultural sources were not treated as patterns to be copied but as visual knowledge to be observed, selected, interpreted, and transformed into design concepts. The implementation of EDP provided a contextual and exploratory learning experience and strengthened the connection between cultural knowledge and the creative design process. EDP has the potential to support the development of culture-based design literacy in fashion education.
